5 Must-Read Books by Gabby of The Literary Vogue

We were so excited when Gabby of Literary Vogue agreed to partner with us and talk about some of her favorite reads. Gabby is an established and revered bookstagrammer, as well as a Homewood native and Samford student. A visit to her page will introduce you to a wide range of genres, authors, and topics. Homecoming by Yaa Gyasi: "This was such an impactful read for me and I learned a lot from it. This is told through many generations of two half-sisters born in Ghana under British colonial rule.  This story truly is timeless and has such beautiful writing. (Also by an Alabama author!)"

Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison: "It’s no secret that Toni Morrison is a literary genius. This book changed the way I read due to Morrison’s wonderful storytelling and the themes and literary devices woven throughout."

On the Come Up by Angie Thomas: "Angie Thomas is one of my automatic-buy authors. This book was a perfect mix of music, fun dialogue, while also hitting on important social and community issues."

American Royals by Katharine McGee: "The premise of this story is not like anything I’ve ever heard of - think of The Royals but in America! This is such a fun read that I could not put down."

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett: "I loved how Brit Bennett brought her characters to life in this story and pulled you into the story at the same time. This story transcended through time and had so many great quotes that stayed with me long after I finished reading."
