ABOUT JEFFERSON ISLAND
Our 16-year-old hero can barely remember his own name. His life on Jefferson Island has become a daily struggle to keep his belly full and avoid the inevitable beatings of the town bullies. His father has run off to the mainland and his mother seems to be unraveling more and more with every passing day. It’s a cruel, hard reality that faces him, and that’s before a giant inky-black monster with barbed tentacles destroys the one bridge connecting Jefferson Island to the rest of the world. To survive, he will need to rediscover himself and become a fighter, a leader, a protector, and a friend. Can he survive the terrifying journey he must face without becoming something he despises? Only he, his best friend, and the residents of Jefferson Island will ever know.
